The Academy is currently run under the BangIa Academy Ordinance,
1978. A few amendments to the Ordinance have already been made under
special orders. A new Ordinance has been drafted and is awaiting the
approval of the government.
No election to the Council was held during the eighties. Election
to the Council was held in 1991 after long eleven years; and the latest
was held after eight years in 1999.
On the recommendation of the Enam Committee the divisions of the Academy
were reorganized on 26.12.82. The number of divisions has since been
5 with the Library enjoying the status of a Division.
